Before starting Schaffner Media Partners in 2008, Herb Schaffner spent many years as an editor and book publisher at leading commercial book publishing companies (Simon & Schuster, Harper Collins, McGraw-Hill). Numerous books under his leadership won best book awards fromStrategy+Business Magazine, Toronto Globe & Mail, The Economist, CEO Read, and BusinessWeek. One book under his supervision won the “best business and finance book of the year” award as selected by The Financial Times and Goldman Sachs. Schaffner acquired and edited best selling books including Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, published an historic book by a major government leader in India, and launched a vintage fly-fishing literary series.

Schaffner’s career also includes a significant stint in marketing and communications. He has extensive experience as a strategist and leader in public policy, government, nonprofit, and educational, organizations, located in New Jersey, New York, and Washington, DC. He has worked as a speechwriter to a governor. On Capitol Hill, he was director of communications for the highly influential Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, and he has also been a director of communications and marketing at two major universities. In these roles, he managed multimillion dollar projects, worked as a key strategist in lifting national profile, increased media exposure, and built influential brands. He also coauthored leading reference works on labor and the workforce.

is a writer, editor, and consultant available at the beck and call of Schaffner Media Partners. She has written two critically acclaimed narrative nonfiction books–one of which won a James Beard Award and many articles on many topics for major newspapers and magazines. Her popular blog chronicles food, art, and history. As a communications consultant she has produced websites, press materials, brochures, newsletters, grant proposals, and books. As wife of the principal of this company, she counts herself as the original and Schaffner Media Partner.
